About

Built by language learners, for language learners

Moreno exists because the tools we wanted did not: something that starts from the content we actually enjoy and does the tedious part for us.

Why we built it

Every serious learner hits the same wall. Courses take you to roughly an intermediate plateau and then stop being useful. Native content becomes the only way forward, but it arrives faster than you can absorb it, and the vocabulary evaporates the moment the credits roll.

The known fix is spaced repetition. The reason most people abandon it is that building the cards is a second job. So we automated it: Moreno reads what you imported, decides what is worth learning, normalises each word to its dictionary form, keeps the sentence you met it in, and schedules the reviews.

What we believe

  • Relevance beats volume. A hundred words from a show you love outperform a thousand from a frequency list.
  • Recall beats recognition. Understanding a word in subtitles is not the same as producing it in conversation, so Moreno always pushes towards production.
  • Effort belongs in practice, not in setup. If a step can be automated, it should be.
  • Your data is yours. Your library, your imports, your review history: exportable and under your control.

Where we are

Moreno supports 9 languages today (Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, English) and runs on the web, installable on phones and desktops, with offline review. We ship continuously and add languages and content sources as learners ask for them.

Your next language is waiting.
